Hello,

We (myself and my wife) applied for Canada VISA under worker category in the month of February 2011.

On March 1st, we got both the passports but with visa stamp only on my passport and there was a letter along with my wife’s passport that she has to take the chest xray after 2 months and in the mean time she has to see the DMP and he will guide you to undergo additional medical tests for TB.

After that we went to the DMP and he then referred to another doctors and so on. We are asked to do a number of tests for TB and all of them were negative. She does not has any symptoms nor she is ill. She is just fit and fine.

The doctor then asked to take some medicines and come after 2 months. Now when we went to the doctor again after taking 2 months of medicines, he is telling that you might have to continue the course for another 4 months and then we will see if you could get a visa or not. We have still not taken the chest xray which we were supposed to take after 2 months because we were waiting for a green signal from the doctor.

Question:
Should we go ahead with the chest X ray and send the passport for visa stamping again or should we wait for another 4 months?

Now this time, if the visa office is still not convince, can he reject the application?

Can we Re-apply the fresh visa under some other category, like visitor?

Any other input will be appreciated.

Please advise and help.

We are in deep trouble as I am in Canada and my wife is still in India struggling for the information and visa.

1. It is weird that your pps were stamped. As the family is taken as one unit - usually if one had a med issue, everyone's stamping was delayed.

2. Your DMP is following rules... this is called 'med furtherance' - and if TB is the issue then 2 things r done:
- a) Sputum Test & repeat Xrays, twice in a span of 8 weeks, another 2-3 weeks to send the 'negative' report.
- b) 6 months of treatment course, then the retests - the submit the 'negative' report to CHC.
2(b) is usually done on the request of CIC... when 'active' TB is diagnosed/suspected. Probably your DMP had received a letter [from CHC] to that effect.

3. Relax, TB isn't a 'medical inadmissibility' issue - eventually she'd pass thru.

4. There's no reason to panic & try applying under any other stream. There'd be a delay, but your PR is assured [unless there's a security issue].

5. Try visiting another DMP, with a copy of that CIC letter - explain the situation - probably s/he would agree to send the Xrays now.

Qorax

She must have had something suspicious on her X Ray indicating exposure to TB. A healthy response is for the body to encapsulate the germs so it can not spread. It is inactive, but can become active later on in life due to immune system weakness and other problems. The medicine is to get rid of this. They usually take another X ray to see if the combination of medicine they are using is working and then continue or change this cocktail of TB drugs. The standard treatment is 6 months if they have the right combination and then they will take another Xray to confirm.

As previously mentioned, TB is not normally a problem, but there are TB strains that are very drug resistant, but these are not normal.

This is what happened with my wife and those were a long 6 months waiting, but she has been here for years now.
