Hi! Here is my short story. I graduated with a Master's Degree in Canada and hold a post-graduate work permit. In the past, I worked outside Canada as a skilled worker for less than 1 year. As for now, I worked in Canada as a skilled worker for 6 months.

I used the CRS tool to estimate my score:
  • With none or less than 1 year of Canadian or foreign skilled work experience, I have 464 points.
  • If I continue working in Canada, with 1 year of Canadian skilled work experience I will have 499 points.

Question. Does it make sense waiting to get 1 year of Canadian work experience before applying for PR via Express Entry? How much will my chances increase in this case? Or should I apply already with none or less than 1 year (6 months) of Canadian skilled work experience?

Don't wait, apply right now. As long as your point is more than the cut off score and pass the 67/100 points, you will be eligible for the FSW stream.

I am in the same shoe. I have applied under the Federal Skilled Worker program even I am in Canada. So you will be fall under the category FSW but inland. Welcome to the club!

You cannot apply for the FSW program unless you have one full year of continuous skilled work experience, so you'll have to wait until you get that in Canada

I m sorry to say but u need to educate yourself well before even making your profile.

Currently u r not eligible for both FSW and CEC. For FSW u need to have atleast 1 year of uninterrupted full time experience and for CEC u need to have 1 ycomplete year of experience not necessarily continuous

Thanks a lot for your reply!

I get 69/100 points for selection factors not considering 10 points for arranged employment because I don't meet all the requirements of Situation 2 (you have been working for that employer for at least 1 year, continuous full-time or part-time equivalent).

But do I meet a general requirement of at least 1 year of continuous work? I worked outside Canada for 8 months and then worked in Canada for 6 months (I had no gap between these jobs). CIC says that I can meet this requirement if I worked full-time at more than 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours), but do I fall within this case? I am a little confused...

I worked outside Canada for 8 months and then worked in Canada for 6 months in the same type of job (I had no gap between these two employments). CIC says that I can meet this requirement if I worked full-time at more than 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours), could I possibly fall within this case?

If these two jobs are CONTINUOUS AND HAVE NO GAP in between, you will be eligible for FSW. I am not sure but is it a same NOC?

I had no gap and they should have the same NOC. How will I need to prove the NOC type, employment letter or contract?

Employment letter is a must. If your company is big, like Google, Best Buy, Walmart, that should be enough. if your company is small, submit with pay stubs and contract :)
