Should I update marital status on study permit to apply for SOWP?

Hi,

I currently hold an approved study permit application (applied as Single as at the time of the application, we didn't meet the criteria for common-law) and I am yet to land in Canada.

As we are eligible to apply for common-law SOWP now, should I update my marital status on my study permit before landing? Or can we apply for the SOWP directly?
