Should I send both my and my wife's passport to CIC for Visa Extension??

Hi All,

I and my wife are currently in Canada. While I have a Work Permit, my wife is here on a visitor status. We recently got our work permit and visitor record extended until 2016. However as we had to leave Canada for a vacation, I applied for our visa extension on Dec 2nd for both me and my wife online. During the process 2 applications were created for each of us. On 8th Dec I received a status update on my application requesting my passport and was waiting for the application also to get updated with similar request.

However one of the other thread confused me saying the same request applies from my wife's visa request as well. Is this true,should I send the passports for both of us to CIC?

or

If the request is specifically for me, how long would I need to wait to get the passport request for my wife.

I still haven't sent my wife's passport as the CIC call centre agent suggested not to send her passport as her application is separate. She has not yet received her request for passport from CIC and her travel date is Feb 2nd. However the processing date has come up to the date when we applied, so expecting the request to come by Monday.

But still even after sending the passport for stamping, it may not come back by travel date and could be a touch and go situation.

Kindly advise if she can travel without the visa stamped and get her passport stamped after reaching India? Would the same letter requesting for passport still apply in India?
