I recently took ielts and my score was L9 R7.5 W 7 S 8. I would have 1 year of skilled experience in Feb 2017, and I am turning 30 in April 2017. If after completing my 1 year, I would be granted 450 points, however, if I won't get an ITA before April 19, 2017, I would lose 5 points and that would bring down my CRS score to 445. So, should I retake ielts to try scoring 7.5 in writing and 8 in reading? Well I know that 450 is nothing looking at the current trend but if we see the trend from last 1.5 years, there were some draws in which cut off was 450 but not below. Please advise

No, if I complete 1 year in my job which wud be in feb 17, then I can get 450 which I can hold up till April 17 because I would turn 30 in April, which means my score wud drop to 445. But, if I can improve my score to 8 in reading from 7.5 and 7.5 in writing from 7, then that would take my score to 456. Even if I turned 30 my score wud still be 451, as I would lose only 5 points.

As for reading, I can improve because in the practice tests I have sometimes score 9 as well. However for the writing it is a risk because in my opinion, I have got 7 in essay and 7.5 in letter ( 7+7+7.5/3= 7). I know that I can't improve my essay score to 7.5 unless I improve on my vocabulary and its proper usage but I can improve my letter score to 8.

I think your advise is sensible. Look for the trend and decide
