Hello citizens or soon-to-be citizens,

Next December, 2018, I will be eligible to apply for citizenship. In my case, I am supposed to include a police certificate from my home country as part of the application.

But the thing is, I have a plan to visit my native country in December, 2018, for a month of vacation.

Should I try to obtain the police certificate at that time? It would be convenient due to my physical presence overseas.

Or, should I do so remotely only after I come back to Canada? My concern is that, at some point in future while my application is in process, IRCC may ask me to get another police certificate to account for the time I will have stayed in December in my country.

If it's easier to do it while you're in-country, do it when you're there.
