Does it ask you to list if you applied or denied any visa or claim in any country before? Pretty sure it does! If you don't mention it, they will find out and it will cause you problems later in the process. Having a previous refugee claim isn't a detriment to a spousal claim. Not mentioning it and having them find out (and they will) is a detriment!
