Hi everyone, I'm filling out my PR application after getting ITA. I am not going to say anything about a common-law partner because I have not been with my boyfriend long enough. He's a PR in Canada since last year. Should I mention him anywhere on my application? In the LoE?

I'm going to visit him soon and I was wondering also if I should mention anything at the border about my application?

Better not since you haven’t been long enough together
Or if you are going to let him sponsor you then that’s a different story
Even in that case it’ll be tough

OK thanks. I have a lot of points and got ITA via Express Entry for FSW, so I don't need to mention him, but I was just wondering if they would want to know. I don't want to misrepresent anything; the reason that I'm coming to Canada is him. But at the same time, I'm applying for myself only.

Well you’re not misrepresenting since you’re not Married to him
Or are you planning to before getting your PR
Even in that eventuality I’d rather wait and complete my PR then marry him

OK thanks. Yeah we will wait until I get PR for sure.

I'm in the same boat-- my SO is Canadian. However, we aren't common law or married, so legally I'm "Single/never married" according to IRCC. I always thought this was an odd quirk of legal coding.

Yes it's weird, isn't it? Anyway, as long as there's nothing official I guess it's fine!
