Hi everyone! In need of some advice/confirmation.
Context: I just finished my Master of Engineering program this semester (Winter 2025) and recently got accepted to a PhD program for Fall 2025 at the same DLI. The current study permit I have won’t expire until March 31, 2026. I talked to the immigration advisor at my university and they said since I’m not changing DLI and my new program starts within 150 days, I don’t have to extend my permit right now and can just start my PhD with the current one I have.
I trust them but I would like to just double check this information. If someone has gone through a similar experience and would like to share/confirm, I would appreciate it!
