Hi altruists,

I got the invitation having 459 CRS points.
But I selected my spouse's education status: "Degree awarded" for Canadian Masters.
Though she completed her masters in last November and got the program completion letter from the University but she will be officially awarded the degree after senate meeting in February for convocation in May. She is working fulltime with PGWP since January.
If I don't select "Degree Awarded" the next option for education status is "In good state". But selecting that doesn't give me the 10 points for her masters.

Hopefully she will get the official letter within few days. In this circumstance- should I hold on the invitation and accept/submit documents after she gets it?
Or should I decline the invitation after she gets the letter and wait for next round of invitation?

It really scares me the way minimum CRS point is getting higher :-[

what education is that canadian or foreign?
For foreign you need to have the diploma assessed to get ECA in order to get the points.

I would recommend that you gather all the documents and keep it ready with you. Hold on to the ITA till last moment. Hopefully your wife will have the degree in next few days. Once you receive it, you can apply. If it looks like you will not be able to furnish the Masters in allocated time, you can withdraw.

At the date of the draw your wife did not have the Canadian Masters so you are not entitled to those points. As such accepting the ITA carries a high risk of rejection down the road. I would decline and accept only when you have proof of all the items you claim points for

The way i see it, your wife had completed her degree requirements at the time you received your ITA. When i applied for my PGWP, i had not yet been granted my degree as the university Senate had not yet met. CIC accepted a letter from my university confirming i had satisfied all the degree requirements and will be set for graduation pending Senate approval You should make sure the degree completion letter you have satisfies this requirement. If you can request that the school give you a letter addressed to CIC for immigration purposes. And write a LOE clearly explaining the circumstances as they were post-ITA. You shouldn't decline your ITA.

convocation is just a ceremony

As long as you can prove to CIC that you have complete the course, you can claim the points. Don't waste your invitation like that and get letters from your university.

People have listened too many fear mongering theories and 'experiences' causing people to reject ITA for stupid reasons or wrong reasons, in turn causing unintentional backlogs.

transcripts and letter of explanation will do. and latter once you get it just send that degree certificate using
CSE.
