Hello,

I recently applied to OONP.
With Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program opening up soon, I am wondering if it is advisable to apply to another Provincial Nominee Program just to have a Plan B in case Plan A (Ontario) fails. Is this recommended or would you advise against doing this?

Thanks!

Alberta Nomination Program is only open to people who are living and working in or who have been offered a job by an Alberta employer and are moving to Alberta to start working in that job. At least this is my understanding from what I read in this link:

http://www.albertacanada.com/opportunity/immigrating/ainp-eds-employer-driven-stream.aspx

I didn't understand it but some people on this forum said that even if you apply you can't use it for the 600 points. Makes no sense to me as the whole point of PNP is for immigration. If this point is true why would anyone go through the effort of applying for something they get no benefit from? As I say this is bizarre.

Yes,, AINP is even not useful who have Alberta work experience unless there is employer support. Even they didn`t announce the express Entry for this province like others.

This is purely for Employee driven program and PGW people. I called them regaridng EE and they said,, it is controlled by Federal Govt.

Finger crossed , lets wait

Till now, AINP (alberta nomination) will not give you the 600 points in express entry.

After getting the nomination, you should apply through the federal PNP (processing time around 15 months)

This was for the applicants who got the nomination before the end of 2015.

Alberta will open the doors for applicants again on Jan.27th, things may changes, but I don't know. nothing is posted on the website yet.

What about other Provincial Nominee Programs beside's Alberta's?
Is it recommended to be applying for two PNPs just in case one fails? Or is this not recommended?

OINP is among the faster PNPs to issue nominations right now. Just stick with that one for now.

If ever you decide to apply to multiple PNPs at the same time, you can only accept one and decline the others.

CIC itself doesn't mind a candidate getting multiple nominations, but the provinces themselves don't like the practice.

Manitoba PNP explicitly says don't apply to MPNP if you have another PNP application currently in process. I believe NB is like that as well.

Because from the PNP's perspective, it's a waste of their time and resources to process an applicant if they'll end up going to another province instead.
