Should I apply for a visa extension

Dear all,

I applied for a visa extension Nov 11 2020 and I got it approved just now, how ever it runs out in 7 days. My question is. Do I apply for another visa extension even though I've currently got both a spousal sponsorship and work permit application going for me? Both were sent in on January of this year.

I've googled a bit but the only ''real'' answer I continued to find was ''you need to maintain valid status''. Does a work permit and its application provide implied status?

IRCC considers your OWP application as maintained status - even if it hasn't been opened or processed yet (you do need proof of delivery, like a tracking number).

CBSA however, doesn't recognize that status. So if you will need to cross the border at any time before your PR/OWP application is approved, you run the risk of being considered out of status by the CBSA since your last extension expired.
