Dear Seniors,

I am a single applicant and got PR in FSW category.I plan to land in in March 2018

As per CIC website single person must carry CAD 12,474 whereas I mentioned that I will carry along CAD 20,000 as per my PR application.

Should I carry what I declared .i.e.CAD 20,000 or simply anything above CAD 12474.

if you are thinking of carrying that amount in cash then make sure you declare it when you land. Anything 10000 cdn or more needs to be declared on landing, that’s total of any currency in possession not just dollars.

It is purely up to you, as long as you carry minimum amount or proof via bank statements, etc. You can also carry all the cash you have, just declare it and nothing else matters, there is no harm in declaring cash. It is only a problem when you have concerns of losing cash, not wanting to carry cash (you can carry travelers' cheques or just bank statements and some cash). Only if the amount is too high, they might want to know where you got so much money from (maybe 50k with no story of where the money came from).

Are you going to Toronto BTW? Are you going from India or you going from US? Do you have someone/address already? I will be going in April as a single FSW applicant.

Anything above the threshold (in your case 12474) will be fine. You don't have to carry it with you. As long as you can show funds in your bank, that will be fine.

Thank you Canada_Dreamer.

When you say. "You don't have to carry it with you. As long as you can show funds in your bank, that will be fine"......does it mean that I can simply show same type/style of bank statements/FDs/bank letters ( of course with amounts as on latest date ) as presented while showing my "Proof of funds" during the time of PR application filing.

Sorry for the late response from my end.

Yes, you can show a valid bank statement.
