Folks- creating this thread to share your job hunting experience. While there are other similar threads, the information is in bits and pieces and not structured at all. In fact most of the experience revolve more around landing experience that job experience. If the content develops properly we may request this to be a sticky thread. Can we please share our job hunting experience loosely structured around following points :
a. Your Industry and years of foreign experience
b. Province and Area you think is best for people in your industry
c. Home Country Designation
d. Current Designation in Canada
e. Number of months it took you to land in first job in your field
f. Strategies that worked for you
g. Strategies that did not work for you / you would advise others not to follow
h. Name of job agencies who helped you
i. Must do certifications (before leaving home country)
j. Must do certifications ( in Canada)
k. Must do formal education – ( e.g. 2 months certificate course from Humber etc.)
