Settling in a new country is not easy - finding work and housing, while helping your children start school, getting used to a new language, etc. can be very stressful. IRCC (formerly CIC) approves and funds pre-arrival services all over Canada to help newcomers prepare before their arrival in Canada. All of these services are free for newcomers, because IRCC funds them.

There are 24 pre-arrival organizations, all of which offer different kinds of services: some are provided online/long distance, some are provided in a few cities (for example, Planning for Canada hosts sessions in Manila and Mexico City), some are focused on employment, some are focused on specific professions (for example, nurses or meat processors), etc. IRCC highly recommends to sign up for as many as you can, to receive the most information possible.

If you are moving to Manitoba, the Immigrant Centre Pre-Arrival Centre is the only pre-arrival settlement service dedicated 100% to Manitoba and with partnerships with local organizations, centres, and service providers. They provide services in both official languages (English and French), and a few additional languages including Tagalog and Spanish. You can avail of their services in addition to all other services. To sign up, go to www.ic-pac.com .
