Hi,

I am in a tricky situation where I am in process for new WP with a new employer and I haven't informed my present employer yet. In order to maintain good relation with my present employer I want to give them 2 weeks notice. Thus my question is:

1. Can I provide 2 weeks notice once new WP is issued? I do not want to give early as there is always a very low percentage of WP rejection.

Yes, you can provide notice when the WP is received. Just check your province's Labor and employment rights to determine whether you give 1 week or 2 weeks notice(varies depending on how long you've worked for the employer).

........It's better to call the CIC. You shouldn't give notice until you receive new WP.

Then you have your answer... 2 weeks notice! As for the other information about giving notice, it likely varies by province and I just cited the one for my province. So just google it about your own province and you should find it.

I believe provincial rules apply when there is no contract in between employer and employee. You have your signed contract and you should follow the contract. Otherwise; if employer wants, they can take you to the court for improper notice of resignation. But usually they don't do it.

As far as two work permits at the same time, contact CIC. I have heard mixed opinions. Some said okay, some said nope.
