Oy September group, how are ya'll doing? How's the spirits around here?? Are you able to get on with life or is anticipation slowly crushing your spirit?
Hanging in there! I was able to get another work permit(WOOT WOOT IEC program!), so I'm still living my life normally here for another year (which by then I will have PR)! It would be nice to see some sort of progress though, although when I finally get approved, it will be more of a fun celebration rather than a race to the border to get it activated ha :p

Hi! A December applicant here wishing you all a DM soon... and a question as well!

We submitted medical results upfront with the application. In the first part (ie. up to SA), we've "Passed" the medical results on MyCIC according to its status, and in eCAS, it shows as "Medical results received".

Do you get assessed again on the medical results after the application is sent to the appropriate visa office after SA or does that mean we've passed the medical exam and it won't come up again during the application?

Just curious since my spouse has some flags that we were concerned CIC would want to investigate with further medical exams...

Just saw that somebody in the October thread got their decision from Ottawa, so hopefully that means they're getting back into the swing of things after the holidays! Stay positive, everyone :D

Just returned to the U.S. yesterday from visiting my husband and his family up in Canada for the holidays. Attempting to patiently wait for news. Had no real issues crossing the border before Christmas, even with my cat in tow, who is staying up in Canada so as to not be a hassle when we're able to move. The border guard did ask us why I hadn't moved to Canada yet and implied that I could show up with all my stuff and get a visitor record and wait out the application process, I just wouldn't be able to work but because I'm self-employed I could get by with doing that. I mentioned that my daughter is in school back in the U.S. He didn't ask us anything else really, so once again all my proof of ties back was unnecessary (not that I would have traveled without it). I wasn't really sure what to think about that line of questioning. I almost felt like I was being tested, which is the first time I've felt that way when I've been crossing, especially since a lot of what he said sounded contrary to what I've read here in regards to showing up with belongings, etc. I said I'd consider the idea and then he waved us on through. It probably took less than 2 minutes total, but felt like longer. I was more prepared to be asked to prove I wasn't trying to stay longer, rather than the opposite.

interesting interaction at the border. if i were in your shoes i would be sorely tempted to move up. although background check started about 6 weeks ago for us, i feel like we won't hear until February or so. we are waiting on getting a decision for my hubbie to look for work around vancouver so he would at least have the email as proof of PR for employers. But I would love it if he could actually move up here in the meantime now that we are close. although, how do you go about importing things like vehicles as just a visitor?

The biggest hitch for me doing this would be my daughter's schooling. I'm not going to leave her behind with other relatives for a variety of reasons, and there's no guarantee the district we'll be in would be willing to enroll her with the PR still in process. I can't just yank her out of school for an indeterminate period of time, and the timing of our visit made it unlikely to get any kind of decision from the school district while we were there because it was break. In terms of my belongings, it actually would be fairly easy to just simply leave everything back here until the time came with someone looking in one things from time to time. I doubt if I showed up with a 26 foot Uhaul that I'd be let in unquestioningly anyway, despite what he said. I have no clue about vehicles, as I don't have a car and won't be bringing one with me at any point in the moving process.

Hello Everyone :)

I am back after one month vacation.

Almost 4 months for our application. Still early for me to hear something from NDVO. I am going to try to check my ECAS once a month.

I need another vacation so I will be distracted from the PR process and away from internet :p

How is everybody doing?

That's wonderful! Can you put the COPR date on the spreadsheet? I'm curious how long it took to get from decision....
