Not sure about Quebec but here in New Brunswick it was easy peasy to get the SIN#. We went to the Service Canada place and showed the COPR and her passport etc and they issued it right there the same day. They don't issue a SIN card anymore you just get your number etc. Drivers licence was easy too but the health # took awhile as they sent a letter asking for more info, so we just got her healthcare # about a week ago and we're still waiting for the card..

Totally. We have a Service Canada about 20-30 minutes from us, we just don't have a car so it takes extra planning and budgeting of money to get to that city or to downtown Montreal to do things like that.. it's a pain haha
I did start the ball rolling for my healthcare. We have a 3 month wait, but it seems it starts from the day you land. The lady on the phone said she'd mail me the application and then I take that with photocopies of my COPR and CSQ into a CLSC. And I think I need proof of residence... which might be a bit difficult but we're trying to figure that out... hahah

We're still waiting for the PR card. Landed on June 4th. We're back in Russia at the moment. She was not comfortable leaving her mother alone for a long period of time, so we came back. I'm glad we did, because her funeral is tomorrow. I would've felt horrible if we had been in Canada when she passed away.
So we'll wait for the PR card, and have it sent over here. Once we've got everything sorted out from this side, we'll move back to Canada. I'm glad she got a taste of it though.

She got her SIN number a few days after landing. We had to wait a while, but once we got to the counter, it was pretty quick. She also took some English lessons as part of the LINC program. I'm thinking she'll start French when we move back for good.

Hi all! I'm an October applicant but I followed this thread regularly and posted on here too.

I really appreciate all the information I've got on here, especially the one regarding inland vs. outland application.

About a year ago, when I was just about ready to send my inland application off, I stumbled upon some discussions on this thread about how one could stay in Canada as a visitor and still submit an outland application. After getting my questions answered from some regulars on this thread and a few other threads, I changed my mind and submitted an outland application.

Now a year later, I'm a PR and my new adventure has begun!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

When my wife received her health card number it was backdated to the day she landed on June 15th, so I guess it's the same in Quebec which is cool. I guess without a car a fun idea would be when you do make the trip in, it could be like a planned day out in the city to see the sites and sounds etc and just make a day of it :)

Unfortunately, looks like his mom might be giving us a ride. I don't think she'd be into having a day out. Hahah but it's all good. Once we're both working again, we will be able to afford bus/metro passes and we plan to take advantage of that! Haha

Awe the dreaded mother in-law lol, hope she gives you guys some space :-\ How do you like Quebec is it hard to fit in there compared to home? I ask because as a lifelong Canadian Quebec seems much like it's own country within Canada, and then there's the language barrier too etc.
