Hello everyone, I just thought I give you a bit of inside information. I was at a conference this past week and spoke with one of the Directors from CIC, he told me that the new system they are using allow them to process applications in Canada to reduce the backlog in the visa offices abroad so for anyone that is being processed in Mississauga is very good news.
I sent my application on August 15 but I received an email on Sept 23 (the only email I received from CIC) to send the new form (Aug 2014 sponsorship application). I send it on October 14. I didnt get my UCI number or file number by email, I checked with my husband's old UCI and I saw that the application was received on October 15 and that his medicals were received. On November 14, I received a call from the Mississauga office, according to them I was missing a document, they gave me a fax number and I send it the same day. A week later I called the same number and spoke with the woman who just said she received it and she gave me my UCI # and file #. I was able to see my application but as of last Wednesday, it was not available on ECAS. Today I checked and it says that on November 27 a decision was made and a letter will be mailed to me. So medicals received does not mean the appl has been sent to the visa office and the date they give you as received depends on the person who is looking at your application. I also think that when you cant view your application is because they are working on it and will soon be updating it , so give it a week to receive news from them. Unfortunately some officers prefer to send all communication by mail which just adds up to the already long wait.

Hello Violet11,

That explains alot why my application is has not been send to Vienna, (i'm a Dutch citizen). And hopefully it's good news that they send my application to CPP Ottowa.

I have a question to you all, Who is already in to process (ECAS)?
Mine still says, application received.

I think CIC just underwent some type of efficiency review and the recommendations put forward was to eliminate the "in process" step and help save CIC time by just jumping from application received ... to ... decision made. I think they went back and added up all the few seconds it took to make these online changes which eased the applicants minds and found out that they could save maybe 5 minutes each year (since they did it so rarely ;D)...

Some humour for the day.... :D

LOL ;D
Well, let's hope so!

My application was recieved Sept 23 and I have been "in process" since February 3. They requested additional documents in Feb too. I'm in Vienna.

Oh I am Canadian and my husband is Austrian. We are both currently in Panama. There to our knowledge is no where in the entire world where we can both work and live without a visa :( but here he recieved his permanent residency in Panama in less then 6 months lol.

Does anyone have any experience so far in how long "in process" will last?

I don't even know if they will request my husbands passport I'm not positive but I think he is visa exempt.
If we do recieve CoPR it will be mailed to our Canadian address because we can't recieve mail here. Everything is just so complicated with us.

I don't know. Maybe others.
I have the same privilege as you have. My wife has a double nationality. Canadian and Dutch. :) waiting while we together is great.

I haven't heard about any applications moving I sent off June 2014 they put on website received on Sept 26 and sponsor approval on Nov 5. I haven't seen anyone in Ottawa office move in a long time. I just went to the boarder and turned my visitor visa in. I am hoping that a DM will be done by Aug cause my medicals expire.

Hi Every one

I filed my Outland application on the 26/09/14, am british citizen married to canadian. After a long silence from CIC we called their call centre that was in late December the on the 8/1/14 we received the AOR. Then in early February we received an email from CIC requesting RPRF fund of $490. On the 18 February ECAS it's says decision made. My file was kept in Mississauga. My advice is if you feel it's talking longer just call the call centre

You mean 8/1/15 correct? And calling the call centre is only an option if your file is kept in Mississauga as the visa offices abroad do not publish their telephone number(s).

Good news for you Raze

I'm a little jealous ;D

Hey everyone!

Been readiing streams and streams of posts on here, and thoughts would share my update so far.

I'm a canadia citizen (my mother is canadian) and all my immediate family moved over there 9 years ago, whilst I stayed in England. I have now met my English fiance and we are looking to move over to canada.

We applied for sponsorship and all forms including Medicals and fees were done upfront and received on the 18th sep. I was them approved to be his sponsor on the 5th November and our file was transferred to Ottawa. I have been checking the status and it just shows as app recieved. Am I being a bit ambitious and impatient willing it to change!!

I am also paranoid that forms/medicals/fees expire, how long do we have and what are your experiences of similar types of applications??

Thank you

Caroline :)

Caroline update your status on the London outland thread .You can see the process of other applications updates, even though your file is being process through Ottawa we keep a spreadsheet. . It will keep you sane and will help with the process . Application received is normal until it changes to in process then Dm .
