Hi Leah, Let's hope we will get our DMs by the end of June! My medical expires July this year too. Do you currently reside in Canada?
Hi! Yep I'm currently visiting in Quebec! Just did another extension a week ago. So hope that gets approved!

Either the date of your medical expiry or the date of your passport expiry, whichever is closest. If your medical expiry is very close (under 4 weeks) they will likely contact you and ask can you land by a certain date and if you can, great. If you cannot they will extend your medical and then print your COPR based on the new medical date.

Thanks Andrew.

I'm going to keep this short and post a more detailed update later.

Just wanted to let people know that I successfully landed by driving to the Carway border (Alberta/Montana) just this past Tuesday. It was drama filled, my husband I were made to feel like we were the reason the terrorists would win, and it was kind of awful. Basically it was, "We don't care what your paperwork says, or what your lawyer says, or what other people say. If you drive to the border to land, you're taking up valuable resources and preventing us from doing our jobs. You need to make an appointment through the CIC help desk and land at an office in Calgary." I'm paraphrasing, but not exaggerating. I'll post the particulars of that craziness later on. Still, so happy to be landed. Got my SIN on Wednesday and have been frantically applying for jobs every since.

Jesus christ. Sounds like Alberta alright D:

I'm so sorry you had such an awful experience. But soooo happy that you are landed! =]

That is horrible, what is wrong with these people! ... I am happy to hear you are now starting your life!.. :) Best of luck!

I was going to quote but since many are talking about it I will just post a reply.

My medical also expires next month. I have a strong feeling we will have to redo it. I am starting to think I might redo it even before they ask for it. I don't know yet. I would hate to think a new medical request would just delay us more than Ottawa already delayed us by losing our paperwork.

Hi Cazzy, I am in the same situation... my application was received late October 2014 though, I did my medical last year July too. I hope they process our applications by the end of June! Fingers crossed! I currently reside in Quebec on a TRV ( though Outland applicant) Fed up of playing this waiting game! I honesty wish I was a fly, just to see what is Ottawa VO people are doing the whole day! Let's hang in there! Do you currently reside in Canada?

Hi cookie

I reside in England, however the app was sent to Ottawa which is the nearest office to where we will be living (my parents live in sudbury ontario)
We got a date to do the medicsal within a week so if we have to redo it , I'm hoping IT doesnt delay things by too much, it's daft how it's only for a year, however processing times are much longer. I have had to buy a cheap run around car as my lease has expired, and I'm ready to leave my job and start a new career over in Canada (I have a contact in an insurance company that is going to help me secure something which is really good) however it's all on hold until we get a DM

It might be a good idea to call and see when you could get an appointment for a med in case they are booked up for quite awhile, and see if you can book an appointment for say July 20 -23 or something.. That way you can save the money on the exam in case CIC has a decision coming for you soon.. That still buys you over a months time to hopefully hear back from CIC, and if you do you can just cancel the med appointment.. My wife's med expires on July 22 and they gave her till Aug 19 to land on the COPR.. They will do the same for you I'm sure, and you really should be seeing DM soon I would think.. The med goes to them right away electronically so you still have some time to put it off and save the extra expense as you may not need to redo them anyways.

I wonder why they extended my medical to a random date.... Well, not entirely random. they extended it to exactly 11 months from the date i received DM.... o_O i guess it just depends on the officer, eh?

Not sure? Do you mean they gave you 11 months to land by the expiry date on your COPR?

Yeah. I got DM 5/29/2015. The COPR says valid to 04/29/2016. My medical would have expired July 8th 2015. This is not my passport expiry date either, which expires in March of 2024.

I ordered my notes for curiousities sake, interested in what they wrote about us and how the end of the process works, haha.

My comment wasn't directed at you specifically, just pointing out how random it seems they are with either extending the medical, the COPR expiry, or not. Unless someone can enlighten me as to why they picked exactly 11 mos after DM for me to land when I already live in Canada, but only gave others a few weeks (when my medical was 4-6 weeks from expiry). My guess is it just depends on the officer?

Wow they do seem random at CIC don't they lol.. Our med expires on July 22 and the passport 2023 with the valid to date on the COPR Aug 19/2015.. You got a good long time then Amalthea 8) I think CIC is as unpredictable and individual as the CBSA are lol..

How do you order case notes on your file? Is it worth doing whilst it's in app received?

Absolutely! It will tell you if things that you sent in (if applicable) were attached to your application, (mine showed that my FBI check had been recvd and attached) tell you if you passed your medical (that was the first thing they did on mine!) and any notes they've entered into the file, even about SA!

Here's how you order case notes via the Access to Information act. You have to scan a consent form for your Canadian spouse to access the files for you. It shows you how to attach this at the end! You will then receive them in 30 days - give or take a few business days~!
