Please can any one who has experienced in asking for alternative passport request instructions for other countries let me know the wait time. I got to know it is like 2-3 weeks from other sources. Please let us know if you have exp. otherwise.

got an update from mp that my bowp app. is approved and sent to me on 31 may. i am sure cic is broke and they will start approving our applications once they recieve bowp money.

When did you apply online? I was thinking of getting one since my work permit will expire on July 5, 2016

I just got request for additional documents. My wife could not get police certificate from US because FBI could not read her fingerprints. They could not read them twice even though Canadian expert says they are ok and he sent electronic ones along with ink. I explained that to CIC in a letter and submitted all paperwork from FBI. Now CIC wants police clearance from states within 30 days. Official processing time in FBI is 6 weeks... Really don't know what to do.

Mine expires on July 10 and I have applied on 31st May. Hoping to receive it soon.
The online application was updated two times;
1. change of status to open
2. change the documents required to "No documents required at this time"

Applied on 28th April and got approved on 18th of May 2016 ... pretty quick as against 3 months wait in 2015

20 months is the average. The actual processing time may be even longer. I myself have been waiting for 21 months (August applicant).

It is not even an average. This is just a number to stop people sending them requests about their application status...

i did paper application as the timing of both online and paper applications were same when i applied. now you guys can apply online as online applications has less processing time. i applied for paper bowp in 1st week of march .

I am Sep 2014 CEC applicant and currently waiting for PPR. I am currently on closed work permit expiring in October '16. Please advise if I need to apply for BOWP or shall I apply for extension of my closed work permit ?

I called the CIC helpdesk and they advised that my application is in progress and background check is almost complete, so, just need to wait.

You have enough time left don't worry about bowp at this point. If I be you I won't apply for bowp until September . Just wait and pray for final decision on your file until September.
