I agree, but I'm trying to look on the bright side: When my family started, Stage 1 was 69 days, but then most (though not all) of the September applications were actually processed 20-30 days faster. NY, the visa office my family would have used, was 11 months. Now Ottawa Pilot is 12 months. So it seems like it's the same. Also, I'm wondering if they are just listing 12 months for Ottawa because it's new and they have no idea how long it will actually take. Well, that's what I'm hoping.

Faster would be better, though, and I'm pretty sure most of us would be happy to pay a bit extra for faster processing. You'd think CIC would be happy to fast-track applications for a fee. They could use the extra cash to hire more people to process applications, reducing wait times for everyone.

I read somewhere in this forum that the Ottawa office estimated a 10-month processing period. In my case, I "think" it is in Ottawa but who knows if they end up forwarding the file to another office in the US as some have reported.

I observed that the timeline on CIC website is more about the difficult case. If you look into processing timeline of general public for each office, those with lighter straightforward cases are processed much faster, e.g. 4 months instead of 12 months. Heads up and hope for best. This is how I motivate myself too 8)

That is exactly the attitude one needs to keep, a stiff upper lip and all that. Again good luck to everyone, and may the wait be as short as possible all around.

as per ecas using my husband's UCI (he's a PR), a letter was sent to him nov 5, but we didn't receive it. so he called cic to verify. he was given a B number, but I can't seem to make it work in ecas. I heard others get to have an F number. any significant difference?
