Hi
My parents are getting old and I want them to move to Canada. However my father loves to come but my mother is not so eager about it. So I am thinking maybe I can apply for my father first. But I am worried if this will affect the application. Can someone please help? Thanks.

You have to apply for both and meet income requirement for both. You cant choose to sponsor just one.

You can have your father as primary applicant, and your mother as a non-accompanying dependent. This means BOTH need to be counted for your income, and BOTH need to pass the medical exam. But only your father would get the PR visa.

After he gets PR, your father could then sponsor your mother later on with a normal family class spousal app when she is ready to move to Canada.

Of course this all assumes you meet the income eligibility criteria, and are lucky enough to be selected in the parents lottery next year.
