Hey seniors,

I have applied PR under CEC last June in my home country and I chose the Canadian embassy in my home country as my case processing office. However, it seems that all of the corespondences are conducted through Ottwa.

I received the email requesting our passports. However, I am not sure whether it is safe and legal to courier passports from my home country (China). I have explored a few options and the following one seems easier. Some friends from India emailed Ottawa to explain that it is illegal to send passports to overseas in India. Then, Ottawa instructed them to do this procedure through the local embassy.

Is this also applicable in other countries, especially China? Anyone has the similar experiences?

I will email Ottawa and see what they suggest. But any suggestions from you guys are highly appreciated!

Thanks a lot.

Todd

You can write to Ottawa and ask them if you can send the passport to the Canadian Consulate in China. Also, please let us know your timelines.

Yes, this is normal. ecas status changes to decision made either after the applicant receives PPR or just before the ppr.

cool, thanks

I am waiting for their reply. Hopefully, they will give instruction soon. They gave us 60 days for sending passports. So, we have enough time:)

finally, they replied us on 4th Oct and agreed that we can process the final stage in the Canadian Embassy in Beijing.
We couriered our passports yesterday and they should receive it today. So, let's see how long it takes them to issue our visa.
