Pre-Assessed..
Hello,

I am in the process of sending in my application to sponsor my spouse that I have married this year during my Vacation to Bosnia. This form has been great in helping me with questions related to the application and I wanted to run a one last sanity check before I send this off to the Case Processing center in Mississauga.

My spouse is 23 year old, no dependent children, etc.. I live in BC.

On my document checklist, I have the following in check:

Sponsor
- IMM1344
- IMM 5481
- IMM 5540
- Receipt (IMM5401) for Sponsorship application (per application), Principal applicant, Right of Permanent Residence Fee

Sponsored person and family members
- I have nothing here, from what I read none of these forms need to be filled out (IMM0008, IMM008DEP, IMM5669, IMM5490, IMM5406, IMM5476)

Supporting Documents - Sponsor
- I have attached all docs, citizenship certificate, photocopy of citizenship card (front/back), passport
- Option C Printout from CRA, I have this for 2012 as I have not done my 2013 taxes yet.. will this be a problem?
- Letter from work confirming income and employment (8 years), ADP Paystub

Supporting Documents - Sponsored Person
- Identity and civil status docs (original + translated)
- Children information (original + translated)
- Travel documents (photocopy of passport with my last name)
- Proof of relationship to sponsor (Marriage certificate original and translated)
- Originals of police certificates and clearance (scanned original and translated)
- Proof of medical examination (original)

I've also been told we should include photos, call logs (cell, skype, facebook, etc.), and photos to proof our relationship but nowhere do I see this on the checklist or documents?

Thank you for your help.

On my document checklist, I have the following in check

You also need the checklist - IMM5491

Sponsored person and family members
- I have nothing here, from what I read none of these forms need to be filled out (IMM0008, IMM008DEP, IMM5669, IMM5490, IMM5406, IMM5476)

Umm..applicant needs to fill out ALL these forms (except 008DEP and 5476 if they don't apply).

As well as the country specific forms - IMM3901. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3901e.pdf

- Originals of police certificates and clearance (scanned original and translated)

You need to include the ORIGINAL police cert plus original certified translation. Not a scanned copy.

I've also been told we should include photos, call logs (cell, skype, facebook, etc.), and photos to proof our relationship but nowhere do I see this on the checklist or documents?

IMM5490 as well as country specific checklist asks you to submit any additional proofs you need to.

From previous posts, looks like you met/married your wife the first time you ever met. This is a HUGE red flag, and if you don't submit any relationship proofs that shows your marriage is genuine, you can be sure to get an interview scheduled which will delay processing, and a high chance of being rejected. You need to include relationship proofs. Just a marriage certificate is not nearly enough.

Whoa, good thing I came here for a sanity check :) Thank you for the detailed response.

I will post back when i get all this in check.

I would say Option C makes a difference in time they take to decide, but not in the decision. I too did not submit my Option C for this year as I submitted my taxes late, and I got my SA delayed by almost a month which was agonizing (just got it couple of days back now). If you are not submitting Option C, I would include additional financial information, may be like the assets you won (TFSA, RRSP etc.). May be it will help, but can't say for sure.

You can find the forms for sponsoring a spouse outside Canada, here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/may-2014-outland-applicants-t201974.675.html

Use country specific guide for Bosnia - IMM3901: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3901e.pdf (here you will find all the documents that your wife needs - follow the instructions there regarding originals/photocopies)
Use the document checklist - IMM5491 (for both the sponsor and applicant): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5491E.pdf (you will need to include this document checklist in your application)

Forms that do not apply to you (from what you wrote here):
- IMM5409
- IMM0008DEP
- IMM5476 (both sponsor and applicant) - this form is needed mostly when you use a lawyer.

Remember, you must send all these forms together with the supporting documents, in a package to Mississauga for Sponsor Approval. Once the sponsor (you) is approved (current processing time is 55 days), your file will be transferred to the visa office abroad for further processing (in your case, Vienna - currently at 14 months processing time).

Like Rob_To said before, since you got married on your first visit (and this is a red flag), you will need to include in your application as much proof as you have to show your relationship is genuine. On country specific guide (IMM3901), there is a box marked: 10 Proof of relationship to sponsor, where you will find examples of proof you need to include with regards to your relationship. But it's not limited to that, people send also: emails, facebook chats, skype chats, western union receipts, plane tickets, photos from holidays, photos with family, etc. On form IMM5490, questions 14,15 and 19 ask about engagement/wedding reception/honeymoon and prompts you to attach photos from those events too.

This forum is a great help, so if you are ever stuck during this process, you will find here lots of people willing to help and give advice.

Good luck with your application!
