Im just about to send the documents to sponsor my spouse and we are a little hesitant about the address. If we are sending through Korea EMS service, are we to use the PO box address or the courier address? Also, what seems to be the best way via korea? Thanks .

If sending by courier where you will get a signature, you aren't supposed to send to a PO box and should follow this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/mississauga.asp

Courier address (no public drop-offs)
2 Robert Speck Parkway,
Suite 1200
Mississauga, ON
L4Z 1H8

Make sure you get an electronic signature or confirmation your package arrived.

I actually sent our PR package by Canada Post courier to the "PO Box 3000" address (I didn't realize at the time there was a special courier address), and it still got there no problems with confirmed delivery.

You can send them UPS, 70,000 won, picked up at your house, delivered the next day with online tracking and delivery confirmation.

Korea EMS service is a good second option. It will probably cost you around 30,000, arrive in about 5 days but no tracking or delivery confirmation. My experience at the local post office here is that they don't deliver to PO boxes and also require a telephone number for the delivery address. You can use the address Rob_TO gave you and this fax number for the phone 905 803 7392.

Personally I'd go with UPS so you have proof of delivery. Korea Post despises the Canadian postal service and will be very little help to you if your package goes missing.

How did you pack your documents? Box? etc. I am also sending ours from Korea.

I put mine in 3 separate manila envelopes labelled as follows;

1. Sponsor's Application and Supporting Documents
2. Additional Documents in Support of Sponsor's Application
3. Principal Applicant's Application, Supporting Documents and Photographs.

I bound the 3 together with rubber bands. UPS put all 3 in one of their cardboard UPS envelopes.

Thanks for that Bartjones, I am getting ready to do the same thing from Korea.

Thanks bartjones! I was thinking about using EMS but as mentioned it's not trackable..is it. Much cheaper though.

Actually, the wife just told me it wasn't 70,000 it was 48,000 so that probably makes it a pretty easy choice to go with UPS.

I know I gave her 70,000. Wonder where the other 22,000 went :D

Thanks again bartjones! It's a small detail but good to know re: using which courier.

Hmm maybe 22 bottles of soju?

LOL i miss Korea. Drinking is so cheap there... hope you guys are prepared for the ridiculous prices of Korean drinks back in Canada :)

Lol. She's not much of a drinker. Personally, I think it went in the money pit known as the "yet another pair of shoes" fund. ;D
