self employed with no previous self employed experience

Hello, i have a question, i need to know under which category can apply for PR a person who is a freelance graphic designer in Canada with an open work permit. He has been 8 month freelance in Canada. Can he apply under the self-employed stream? the only self employed experience he has is those 8 months. In his home country he has 7 years experience as graphic designer but as employee in a company, not as self employed. Under what category can he apply? skilled worker? self employed? any other? thanks very much

The minimum time to have spent in an occupation to be considered for Express Entry is 1 year. He should apply as an experienced graphic designer based on his employment with the company.
