self-employed on a visa?

Hello,

i'm a new user and have a question regarding my visa.

my employer paid for my visa, which I received as a skilled worker for Quebec and the visa is restricted to a city and the employer.

I heard that in case I would leave the employer, another potential employer could take over my visa.

Would I technically be able to work as a contractor / freelancer on my visa, meaning that I could potentially take over my own visa if I keep working for a company.

No - another employer cannot take over your visa. If you want to work for a different employer, you need to obtain a new work permit tied to your new employer and job.

No - you cannot work as a contractor / freelance on your existing work permit. Again, it's tied to a specific employer and job.

Would it be possible to get a visa for a contract instead of a permanent position?
Which visa is required to work as a contractor? Do I get the new visa faster or is it more likely that my new visa would be accepted, if I already live and work in Canada?
