Selecting the Right NOC Need help 2147 or 2281

Hello Everyone

I have difficulties finding the right NOC. I am Computer Science Graduate and CCNA and CCNP Certified. I don't know which NOC to Select both seems identical in responsibilities.

1) 2147 Computer engineers (except software engineers and designers)
OR
2) 2281 Computer network technicians

Please help me if someone know.

They may have identical responsibility. But you have to choose one which has more identical responsibility as your job duties / job experience letter. You don't select based on your education credential only. You choose it based on your job description.

I am working as a Senior Network Engineer and below are some of my Job Responsibilities but limited to which one i am fit in

1) Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting.
2) Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
3) Provide Level-2/3 Support and troubleshoot to resolve issues.
4) Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
5) Configuration and installation of various network devices and services ( e.g, Routers, Switches, Access point, Firewall, Gateway, Air-Fiber, Point to Point and Multipoint link)
6) Upgrading data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases;
7) Remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers.
8) Install computer networks such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, and other data communications systems.

I glenced at those 2 NOCs, I think you should go with
2281 - Computer network technicians

But 2281 require College Diploma and i have University Degree 4 years. This will not be a problem

Employment requirements for 2281

Completion of a college or other program in computer science, network administration, Web technology or a related field is usually required.
Certification or training provided by software vendors may be required by some employers.


You qualification are fine, don't worry about it. It will not be a problem.

Hi ashx,

I just noticed that you had same issues regarding decision making as I do now. Can you tell me how did this NOC id work for you? Have you submitted your express entry already?I am also CCNP certified.

I would be very grateful for any insight on this matter!
