My mother has a visitor visa expiring in April 2026 along with her passport expiring at same time. She visited Canada for less than 2 months in 2018. She visited again in October 2024. I then applied for visitor visa extension in February 2025. She got approved in March with a condition to do medical in 30 days. She did her medical on April 17, 2025. She got extension until March 26, 2026.

I want her to stay with us as long as the permit allows. So I plan on sending her back to India around March 20, 2026. She can then renew her passport there and I plan to apply for Super Visa then. My question here is that, can we use the same eMedical for Super Visa which she did in April 2025 as it would be valid until April 2026? I cannot find any concrete information regarding this. If the same medical can be reused, we don't mind her going back to India starting of January 2026. This would give us enough time to renew the passport and probably apply the Super Visa close to end of February.

Any advice and guidance?

This is a risky plan. She should reestablish ties to India (live there for 6 months for example) before applying for the supervisa or else it appears as she is attempting to live in Canada and has minimal ties to return to after her visit is over. A supervisa is a visitor visa and many don’t seem to have longterm plans for their parents in their home country and there are very limited pathways for parents to get PR. Only a small fraction on supervisas will be able to move to Canada permanently. The days of supervisa visits being 5-7 years may be numbered because
it places incredible strain on healthcare and parents are not returning home even if they extensions are denied.
