Dear Sir/ Madame

I´ve been a permanent resident in Canada for 2 years and now I want to take my boyfriend from backhome that I´m having 6 year relationship with. how can I apply for PR for him? what documents do I need? does getting married gives any advantage? what is the path I should take ? I´m really greatful if someone can give me proper guidance

Thank you

Most important question: If you've been in a 6 year relationship, and a PR for 2, had you, before becoming a PR, lived together for a year or more?

Actually No. I'm still 21. we haven't lived together because our parents thought we are too young for it by then.

You will either need to get married or live together for 12 months. After that you can sponsor him as your spouse.

So can I just sponsor him right after getting married or do I have to wait for a certain period before apply? should i get married here or back home? and Do I have to have a certain income in order to sponsor him?

Since you have a 6 year relationship with him, as long as you have adequate proof, you can sponsor right away. You can get married where ever you want, as long as it’s recognized in the country where it’s performed. If you are thinking about doing it here I would strongly suggest getting a TRV before you get married. It’s tough to get after you are married. No income requirement, but you do need to be able to provide proof you won’t need to rely on social assistance once he is here.

Thank you.what should I provide as proofs? and how long will it take for this process? How much will it cost for the total process?
