I live in a country where I have no family left and the ones I do have want nothing to do with me or claim they can't help me. I'm pregnant and I was staying with my boyfriend but he's putting me out I have no where to go but on the street my government refuses to help me and claims they cant. I dont know what to do I dont want to give up my child. Can I ask for asylum from in my country

No - you cannot ask for asylum from your home country. Also, unfortunately what you have described is typically not grounds for asylum.

You have two choices to claim asylum:
(1) Obtain a TRV (tourist visa) to Canada and claim asylum once you arrive here. To be approved for a TRV, you must demonstrate that you have strong ties to your home country, have funds available to pay for your trip and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term.
(2) Leave your country and move to another country. Once you have moved to that other country, be officially recognized as a refugee there by UNHCR. UNHCR will then decide where you are resettled. This might be to Canada or it may be to another country.

thanks for replying...if I go to another country you say I can apply that way ...do I have to move permanently like find a home or can I just go to another country and maybe spend a few days in a motel and then apply

No - you can't apply directly to Canada.

You would need to go to the other country and first contact UNHCR to be officially recognized as a refugee. UNHCR will then determine where you will be resettled. There is a low chance they would select Canada and a much higher chance they would select a different country. You don't get to pick the country - UNHCR selects the country for you. UNHCR may even select the country you have temporarily moved to as the place where you will be resettled.

Only a small fraction of refugees get resettled. So you could move to another country and get stuck there. /in general you haven't been persecuted in your country so asylum is not really a good route for you.

No, you can't just pop over the border, register and then return. It's a one-way trip. If you returned to your home country, your refugee status would be lost.

Also be aware that once your child will be born you will need to get a sole custody there otherwise you cannot move freely without fathers consent.

Maybe recheck again what are your options in your country (most countries do have certain support for single mothers).
