Security Clearance

Anybody has an experience getting a security clearance? I am offered a role in a government agency in Alberta and as a precondition I am required to submit security clearance on first day of job. Just wondering about what is involved and are there any smart ways to avoid rejection..

There is nothing you can do. Your company applies for it for you. You will out the forms giving permission for them to look as needed.

Depending on the security clearance that they are going to be sponsoring you for, there may be a requirement for you to be a Canadian citizen. You should make it very clear to them upfront if you are not a citizen just in case it is a precondition. Very little point in wasting your time if this is going to be a deal-breaker for them.
