I'm in need of some thoughts or ideas as to why my husband's security/background check is taking so long, its been 2+ years already since the security/background check started.

Here is our background story.

Married November 2011
Inland sponsorship application started March 2013
Husband was detained for work visa having expired October 2013
CBSA took his passport and he has been doing bond check in every 6 months with CBSA
AIP was received November 2013
Medicals have been done and he has past
CBSA tried to deport my husband in February 2014 due to being out of status but with AIP and a new open work permit they allowed him to stay pending the outcome of the sponsorship application.
He has had 3 work permits we keep applying to extensions each time they expire.
Since August 2015 CIC keeps telling us the security and background check hasn't been completed yet.
April 2017 our first child was born and my husbands finger prints were requested again from CIC. We complied and sent them in.

So my question is why is this taking so long. I'm worried with how long this is all taking.

Any thoughts on why?

Have you ordered your GCMS notes yet to see what they say? Have you involved your MP in any way to date?

ordered the GCMS notes but they never arrived??? Our MP is involved and they keep getting the same answer of "still pending security clearance" its insane!!

Definitely order your GCMS notes again.

ok thank you.
Do you have any idea of why it could be taking so long?

Why the security/background checks are taking so long? No - I don't. That's why you need the GCMS notes.
