Hi There - A question I cannot seem to find an answer to:

I am in Quebec on a 3 yr work permit for work as an civil engineer. This is my primary income, however, I am also a musician and earn royalties for previous works and am continuing to write music as a producer, earning income. I am working with Canadian artists in Quebec also. My question is, is it possible to earn this secondary musicians income in Canada if I am authorized to work as an engineer (as per work permit)?

Thanks in advance for any guidance on the matter..

JF

I'm assuming you're on a closed work permit. In order words, your work permit lists your employer's name and was issued based on a job offer from them.

If so, then it is illegal for you to work any job other than the one that is covered by your work permit. So no - you cannot earn the secondary income. This would violate the conditions of your work permit.
