Hello Everyone,
Was wondering if anyone else has been asked for digital finger prints? We received a letter asking for us to send digital prints for my common law spouse. We had sent them about a year ago. Is it because they have expired maybe?

They have everything else and was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what the outcome was or how long it took for an agent to review.
We started this journey in Sept of 2012 and because of neglectful agent we are still waiting.
On a positive note we are very fortunate that the officer re-opened our file after a lengthy request to reconsider.
But now every time I hear from them my heart jumps because I don't know what's coming next.

Whoa! You were able to send digital fingerprints outside of Canada....or is this a request for RCMP PCC?

As far as I know, fingerprints had to be ink and roll, since digital prints could not be sent electronically across the border.

Hmmmm....

This is an inland application
the letter had link to this:

CIC inland offices which currently send clients to obtain fingerprints are now required to request that the electronic or digital method of fingerprinting be used rather than the traditional ink and roll method. CIC should be directing clients to one of the service providers indicated below. At this time only inland clients are affected.

Real Time Identification (RTID) is an RCMP project designed to improve the search, classification, and maintenance of fingerprints in Canada’s national fingerprint and criminal record repository. RTID will allow electronic submission of fingerprints and of disposition information from other police agencies. RTID will increase the efficiency and accuracy of fingerprint based criminal record checks. More information can be found on the RCMP website at http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/rtid-itr/index-eng.htm.

RTID will eventually replace independent legacy systems with this integrated solution to identification. In areas of Canada which are not yet equipped with the scanning technology required for RTID, the RCMP are digitizing all ink and roll prints once they are received in order that these prints may be processed electronically. While there is a preference to receive electronic submissions, there is no intention by the RCMP to stop providing a response to paper submissions. Any paper submissions will be dealt with on a “best effort basis”. There are no service level agreements for paper.

RTID is not intended to replace Livescan where it is available and accessible.

So it is a request for your RCMP PCC, which is why digital [(Live Scan) prints are acceptable.

Just to clarify, your original fingerprints (from a year ago) were ink and roll, right?

I think it takes the RCMP about 72 hours to run the digital prints.

I believe so
