Hi,

During my interview yesterday, officer said as my finger print done in 2019 is expired and new request shall be send soon. I have question can we do fingerprint in advance so before the requests come? In order to save some time.

Thank You

I don't think so. The fingerprinting agency will ask you for a letter from IRCC that shows you've been requested fingerprints AFAIK.

How the heck do fingerprints expire?

They don't. But criminality clearance does expire in 1 year.

If RCMP deems they need fingerprints to successfully issue a criminality clearance, the applicant is sent a fingerprints request. A clearance obtained in such a manner is valid only for 1 year. If a decision is NOT made on the application before this time, RCMP needs a new set of fingerprints to start the criminality clearance process again.

Check the 'Clearances' section in this link to understand the validity of criminality, security and Immigration clearances.

NOTE : Not everyone receives a fingerprints request.

Exactly. I just received a second fingerprint request. It's frustrating but it's part of the process.

Can’t we do it with the old letter they sent it when they requested first time ?

I'm not sure if you can do that. I've never had to submit fingerprints.

Check with someone who submitted fingerprints recently but I doubt you'd be able to do this because if a the date printed on the FP request letter is old, then the agency taking fingerprints might question why you are taking fingerprints now if you were requested prints about a year ago.

Sorry about that. I've updated the spreadsheet.

Submit it ASAP and I hope you see some speedy processing after this.

Thank you. I plan to submit it tomorrow.

In my case, the mailing address of the fingerprints was different in the second letter. So I doubt it would be possible.
