Sched A question- mother's name at birth

The form asks for mother's name at birth. Should I be putting her maiden name? Her surname changed after marriage.
Is it ok to give her old name although my current passport has her new name she took after her marriage?

The maiden name is the one she born with. This is what CIC ask for. It's ok.

You'll have to make a judgment call. Easy answer though is that whatever you do, write a letter of explanation that original birth documents had one spelling and it was corrected (show how, ideally).
