Hi Everyone ,
I currently hold post-graduate work permit and employed in toronto as database consultant.
But im getting paid thru cheques , not thru SIN.the company pays me from its account by a cheque.
so . from one year from now , will i be able to apply for PR ?.
pls help me in this matter because if it doesnt help me for my PR i rather not spend my time in this small company.

do you file IT returns ? If yes, you can support your cheques with IT returns. Also, try to contact the CIC by either calling / mailing them about your case.
I'd suggest you to move on as usually salary slips are an important proof to show that you were earning ( in future for any other purposes like loans etc )

patnikrishna thank you for your reply .

I was an intern til december 2014. hope to get my postgraduate work permit by this month .
my company hired me from january. but as i said its not under SIN , NO Slips or anything, just gets a cheque from company account with my name on it .
I havent filed IT returns. shud I ? if i file IT return will that be equal to working under SIN?
I talked to my boss about this . what he said was "i was a database consultant. the company does not have any salaried employees now. all are consultants ..." . he said if i file IT return everything shud be ok ..He is ready to give me job offer letter or experience letter..
what do u think my chances are with this company ?

I've worked in a small company but where I would get salary slips, letters, all documents properly so I do understand your situation.
But I'd suggest you to first get the offer letter, experience letter, reference letter ( search in this forum for the format ) and most importantly IT returns.
IT returns are not equal to any salary slips, they just compliment / provide a proof that you were getting salary / working for some organization.
That being said, you should first gather all of the above docs and if you have any doubt, look for a company that is willing to at least provide you all of the above ( except the ref. letter as it is a company's decision to give or not to give )

Hope this helped,
Krishna

patnikrishna :)

my company is a small one but im really close to the owner. He is very helpful .What i needed your help was for taking the right steps.
i know I become eligible for applying for PR only after one year as i have no work experience back in india.
so shud i ask him to make me a salaried employee under SIN ?or will these IT RETURNS and documents equalize that ?
also pls advice me on LMIA in this field if u can pls.
thank you

sorry I'm not aware much on LMIA part. yes you definetely should try get him make you a salaried employee asap.
