I have been reading the various postings on landing and still have this question. Hope someone can help me. Here's the situation and questions:

1. I received the email approving my PR. I intend to go to Buffalo and have it put in my U.S. Passport on Tuesday May 25th.

2. My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Vancouver around May 29th - we are flying but don't yet have the airline tickets. BTW - he is not on my application.

3. I want to land on this trip to Vancouver and return to my life in the U.S. while I look for a job or business opportunity.

Question:

1. Since I'm not yet ready to move to Canada, what do I do about household goods? Do I need a list of them even though I'm planning to move at this time?

2. As a permanent resident of Canada, will I owe taxes on my U.S. income earned while continuing to live and work in the U.S.?

Thanks in advance....

You may not owe taxes, as there are tax credits to avoid double taxation, but as a U.S. citizen, you must continue to file income tax returns with the IRS if you earn above the minimum income threshold for doing so, even if you end up not owing any tax.

Sorry I wasn't clear - will I have to file or owe taxes in Canada? I will be a US citizen, living and working the US, but will have landed as a PR in Canada.

You are not a tax resident of Canada, with no earnings you don't have to file a Canadian income tax.
