So I sponsored my parents to come to Canada and now they've asked me to pay the RPRF. I know I have 490 each for my parents but how about my 23 and 20 year old brothers? Do I live them out of the RPRF as they are my parents' dependents or should their age matter? The embassy requested for their passports and a copy of the RPRF receipt.

Dependent children defined by CIC :

A son or daughter is dependent when the child:
is under the age of 22 and does not have a spouse or common-law partner;

is over the age of 22 and has been continuously enrolled as a full-time student and depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since before the age of 22;

became a spouse or a common-law partner before the age of 22 and has been continuously enrolled as a full-time student and depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since becoming a spouse or common-law partner,

or is over the age of 22 and depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since before the age of 22 because of a physical or mental condition.

Got my answer:

The requirement to pay RPRF was removed for dependent children, regardless of age or marital status in 2002.
