I have to share some crazy good news with all of you. A nice lady from the Embassy just called and asked me if I could land by December 17th.

I was puzzled and asked ... "but wait, is my file approved?". And she confirmed. My voice was shaking and now my hands are.

This adds to a 6 months and 10 days processing time in Bucharest. I told her that I would prefer an extension on the medicals and she agreed that I made the best decision.

So, keep hoping everyone, they're speeding up the process.

Things are definitely speeding up. My med exams expire in 18 december also, but I'm sure I will not get the call :

We've received an email 10 days ago and they need us to provide the following:

-evidence of sponsor's ability to financially support applicant in Canada ( funds, job offer etc)
-evidence of sponsor's plan to resettle in Canada: job search/offer, housing search/lease/property deed, bank deposits in Canada, other evidence
-evidence cohabitation in Romania with applicant ( lease, same address on ID cards, same correspondence address, joint bank account/assets in Romania - if case)

I beat myself over the fact that I didn't listen to my instincts and I didn't sent in everything I thought necessary ) My husband said it's an easy procedure and I believed him. And that was a very baaaaaad thing ))))) And he will hear about this for a while ;D

We are sending in the documents and supporting letters at the end of this week so I hope that our processing will not be delayed more that 2-3 weeks. Fingers crossed ???

Just received an email to redo Schedule A with info since I was 18. In the previous form I wrote for the past 10 years.

If I remember correctly, Betina also got this request sometime after the file had been transferred to Bucharest.

Yup, you remember correctly. I've got the same request almost 2 months after SA.

Sorry to hear about that, Betina. In our case, my husband also told me that the process is quite simple and we should trust the good judgement of the embassy workers etc, but I got pretty OCD when compiling the app and added as much proof as possible. Could've gone either way, in my opinion - that's why I was so stressed before and so shocked yesterday.

I did the medical on june 1st and gcms notes said they we're valid until 17 July. So don't go by the date u did your medical betina, it might be valid until january

hehe, I know. I've done mine in Nov. 12, 2012. The GCMS notes say they are valid until Dec.18, 2013 :-D

Hi Everyone, its been a long time since my last post.

We are waiting for our file to be reviewed.

Do you guys have any idea how much time it takes for the file to begin revision and how long takes the revision itself?

It's all so quiet our file hasn't even begun the processing but I am optimistic. I have to be. Soon my husband will leave for Canada and i am heart broken, but I don't let it show. Merry Christmas to you all!

Does anybody has idea on applications from which month are they working now? my file was transferred to Bucharest on 12th of august 2013...any idea when it will start to be processed?

Hello hello fellow Romanians!

I'm a total newbie here and i`m a bit confused with a few stuff.

1. My canadian husband is living in Quebec... I understood that the process for QC is a bit different. You first apply to CIC, then after the sponsorship application is aproved, you apply to Quebec (to MICC). From here i demand a CSQ (that Certificate de Selection du Quebec) and so on.
My problem is that in the Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008) that you need to submit to CIC, they ask you about CSQ, and if you don't have it, why and when did you apply for it. => So when do i need to ask for CSQ? It's confusing because i thought that Quebec issues this certificate only after CIC approves your app??

2. If i read correctly, in the guide they say that for every document, you need to send the ORIGINAL document + legalized copy in the native language + legalized translation? Is that even allowed? I kinda need my original ID card here. I hope i understood wrong!

3. I saw they give you a PDF file form for requesting the police certificates.. Here in RO you don't need that to obtain it. Therefore is it mandatory to complete that form too?

4. When they ask me for my mailing adress, i have more details that i can't fill out there (scara blocului, numar de bloc, etc.. ). Is that so important? (given the fact that i provide them with an e-mail adress? )

5. When they ask me about my education.. I have a particular situation: I did 2 years of medical school, never finished it though. Do i write them to the education too?

6. the Schedule A - Background Declaration (IMM 5669) + the Additional Famlity Information (IMM 5406) -- need to be completed by my canadian husband too?

7. Is is really a problem if i didn't take my husband's family name? (i still have my maiden name - otherwise i would need to change passport, ID card and so on). do they find it suspicious? should i change my name before applying?


I'm really sorry for sooo many questions, i'm just worried they might refuse the application based on little reasons or who knows! :-[

I really hope someone can answer me, i would deeply appreciate it!!

This thread got quiet for a while We've sent the documents the VO requested at the beginning of the month. Unfortunately, they arrived after we got our GCMS notes, so we have no idea if they were what they've expected. We'll find out soon, when the next request gets processed :-F

@AndieRocks - I hope you're taking advantage of every minute of these last days. The next period will go by rapidly, you'll see.

@missy2106 - Nobody knows how long everything takes. All I have learned in the last months is that paying the RPRF in advance and asking for your GCMS/ATIP notes are both a big help.

@CutiePie92 - 1. I don't know, I have no experience with Quebec.
2. I didn't send any original documents, except for the police certificate. I sent mostly simple copies. Be sure you're reading the right regional document, there are different requirements for almost every country.
3. No.
4. I had no problem filling out those boxes. Use abbreviations and only what's important:str., nr., bl., ap.
5. Because they are unfinished studies, I think it's your option.
6. No.
7. I surely hope not, 'cause I didn't change my name either ;D
