Betina, it seems that they have a tendency to approve sponsors in Mississauga and then let the VO check the facts. I've just discovered this recent thread (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/proof-of-sponsors-intent-of-returning-to-canada-t171608.0.html). There are many people who receive letters from the VO telling them to send documents showing that the sponsor started severing ties with the sponsored person's country.

Thank you for the link, mmro. It kinda made me worry and not worry at the same time I worry because adding this kind of checking means longer processing time, and not worry because I read the stories of those that got through it and they are, in majority, pretty ok.

Betine don't bother about security and criminality. I received PPR in oct and the GCMS notes dated in september had security and criminality not started, so they might do that at the end of your processing.

If the date concerning sponsor's return is bothering you and you don't hear anything from them until then, just send an inquiry to the VO in december and let them know the sponsor won't be able to return to canada on the specified dates, but await the procesing with you. Just make sure you have proof of intent for when they ask for it (maybe a letter from a friend or family member saying that the will house you or help you find a house, lease contract if u have one by then, job prospectives etc you know)
Or just wait until they contact you.

Processing is also influenced by their holidays. They have a lot of vacation days. So basically things slow down during xmas month and summer.

PS: i found that sending inquiries actually makes them take a look over the file. Mine went into processing right after I announced them i was pregnant and due soon. I have a feeling that if i wouldve told them from the begining they might have speed up things and i would have given birth in canada.

As proof of returning we've sent an invoice from a U-haul storage place, where my husband left all his earthly belongings when he came to Romania 2 years ago. And my husband sent a personal statement showing that he never came to Romania to stay, that he considers Canada his home, that his best friend for 40 years is there, that he keeps contact with his old coworkers and stuff like that. If they ask for something more we still have bank statements from 2 canadian cards he still has and uses, official correspondence with the CRA sent to him at a canadian postal address and we will ask his best friend and his family to write a letter (with pictures ;D) stating that they already prepared the room for us, because we will stay with them for 1-2 months after landing )

And I have the same thought about the fact that making enquiries might help ) We've already asked for a new set of GCMS notes and will do that every month until it's over )

Hi Guys, I am new around here, but Betina showed me the way to this forum and helped me with a lot of questions while we were gathering our documents. So... My name is Andreea, I am married to Laurentiu. He has lived in Canada for 6 years and became a Canadian Citizen since 2008. He returned to Romania in 2010 and we've been married since 2011. We have two daughters, Irina and Lia. Irina is almost 9 (she's a child from a previous marriage), Lia is 2 and a half. We have just sent our application on november 7th so we're brand new to this game, although preparing the application aged us with about 10 years. Laur will start his old job and is going back to Canada on the first week of January so I will be alone with the girls for God knows how long... When we started this, processing time was nowhere near 14 months as it is now, so we're really desperate as we didn't plan to stay apart for this long.
I am a little lost here, so could you please give me a link where I can find all the acronyms explained?

They wrote the date, that's what worries us a bit.

This is very good info. My husband doesn't know how to answer that question. He is not leaving without me, so he will return to Canada once I am approved. We put a random date (an estimate of how long the process will be).
Now I'm confused, cause if they ask us to prove this, we can't. He won't purchase a plane ticket for that date. I am thinking we could include a separate letter and explain that he intends to go to Canada with me, once I receive my COPR.
Will this be good enough?

I would write a letter explaining them that and add proofs:
- letter from friends or family saying they are waiting for him that they will house you or help you find a lease
- potential employers or explain his job prospectives once he returns
- bank accounts in canada if he still has
- any kind of tie he has to canada
- proof that his doesnt have any affairs settled in the country where he is (now I saw the VO is Vienna so I'm guessing you arent in Ro), that he is more or less just a visitor waiting for your pr

Just be honest, think about what proofs you have mention them and add them. If the VO will need additional proof they will ask for it.

Our papers got to the mississauga center last week, but we haven't received anything yet... Should I worry?

No, don't worry. You might or might not receive an email saying they received your papers and that they are proccesing your request for sponsor approval.

Or might just receive the mail with the decision around the end of the processing time for the first stage which u can find on the cic website. Usually it's around a month, but when i applied it was 3 months )

Just to gave you some hope, that in the VO are alive.

I have two family names after the marriage. On ecas I appeared with my madden name.
Now I see all my names. Not big change.
A question.
I have a dependent child, but he is not appears on ecas, just me.
Is it normal?

Just received an email to redo Schedule A with info since I was 18. In the previous form I wrote for the past 10 years.

If I remember correctly, Betina also got this request sometime after the file had been transferred to Bucharest.

I have to share some crazy good news with all of you. A nice lady from the Embassy just called and asked me if I could land by December 17th.

I was puzzled and asked ... "but wait, is my file approved?". And she confirmed. My voice was shaking and now my hands are.

This adds to a 6 months and 10 days processing time in Bucharest. I told her that I would prefer an extension on the medicals and she agreed that I made the best decision.

So, keep hoping everyone, they're speeding up the process.
