RO back in compliance - next mission

Dear Group Members,

Finally my RO is back in compliance after living in Canada since last 2 years.

Now I have two things to sort out

1st --- renewal of my and mrs PR card which were expired long time ago.

2nd --- apply PR/Sponsorship for our non-PR child (born outside Canada) but living in Canada entered on visa-exempt passport

Can you please advise what should be the sequence of my next steps.

1. Shall I first renew PRs of mrs and I, once we have received new PRs than we apply for our child?

2. Or I submit all applications together (to save time as my child is without OHIP and school)?

3. I am not sure without a valid PR card parents can sponsor their child?

4. How I sponsor my child, through H&C application or outland? What is the most successful and safer approach? (considering child is visa exempt but afraid he has over-stayed as I was not able to send my toddler outside Canada after 6 months)

Any advice guidance would be greatly appreciated

1. No, you don't have to wait for the PR card.
2. They should be treated as completely unrelated applications.
3. A PR card is a travel document. It's not mandatory for sponsorship.
4. Outland. H&C is not applicable.

You also should have been filing for a visitor status extension every 6 months. He has now overstayed. Most school districts will accept a child if the parents are PRs.

Regarding point 3 - So I dont even wait for my PR approval, and just submit his application?
I thought to wait and see how my PR application goes (at least till approval stage) as being out of RO might make any complications? and in 'supporting documents' I will have to provide copy of my PR (which is expired) so it would be better to wait and attach a valid PR copy

Also our child was born couple of years after our PRs, but its been more than few years since than, will it going to cause any impact that why I didnt inform regarding our child birth earlier?

You do not need a valid PR card to sponsor. Waste of time to wait until you have one.

You weren't required to inform them of the birth.

Just make sure you are well in compliance before you submit the PR application for your child. Always give yourself a reasonable cushion in case IRCC disputes any of the days.

I lived 2 straight years in Canada without leaving country, so guess extra cushion for 1-2 weeks should be sufficient?

Months would be better especially if you had been out of RO previously, decision is ultimately yours though.

If you give yourself a buffer of only 1-2 weeks, there's a high probability your application will end up in secondary review.

Any advise regarding my child's out of status? is it ok to sponsor him without fixing his out of status?
