I am trying to find more information about Richmond in Vancouver, eg : safety, housing prices, cost of living, job opportunities and schools. Can someone provide some information on Richmond?

General info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richmond,_British_Columbia
Jobs: http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/JobResult_en.aspx?CommGrouping=GBC006&Keyword=Richmond&Sources=JobBank,Government&Student=No
Apartments: http://www.google.ca/search?q=richmond+BC+apartments
Real estate: http://www.mls.ca/propertySearch.aspx
Schools: http://www.sd38.bc.ca/

Thanks for the information. It certainly helps! From the website, Richmond is a beautiful place except that its a flood prone area. Any idea whether it is still so? How bad can the flood be? Does it happen every year?

Richmond flood risks:

Flood insurance:

I don't really know anything about this myself. I have never even been to Richmond and don't know anybody who lives there.

Thanks for the information! Looks like its not that bad after all with all the measures the government has put in to prevent it.

richmond being flood prone is way overrated in last 8 yrs only two instance where water broke thru the dykes and it was not in richmond if i remeber correctly it was white rock or some part of Surrey/delta (sea side).

Richmond is not beautiful, probably one of the most disappointing areas of Vancouver. Flat and boring.

Can't understand why anyone would want to chose somewhere to live based on internet research. Go visit and see for yourself first.

Richmond is not bad place to live. It is a city in Canada with average longest life.
It is because a big Chineese community there. There is not much car traffic in
the city and property lots are bigger than in Vancouver.
