Return to Canada

Dear Knowledgeable Posters,
I need some advice regarding my wife's return to Canada and join me.
Some info about her:
Landed on 18 th Jan 2011.
PR card : next month Feb 2011
Worked for an Canadian employer for a year till June 2012 and went on maternity leave thereafter.Gave birth a daughter
(Canada) on Aug 2012 and due to pregnancy complications she went to India On 2 nd March 2013 ( completed her continous 760 days Residency Obligations) and she is under treatment which the doctors over here made a mess and our family doctor over here is concerned and the specialist are aware of the facts.
Her PR Card expires on Jan 2016
My question is that will there be a prob at the Airport( CBSA/ Immigration officials ) if she has to stay due to treatment for few months more ( May be till Jan 2014)
and will her PR status be revoked as she stayed almost a year outside Canada.

As long as she has at least 730 days in Canada in any 5 yr. period, she is fine. That means she can be outside Canada for up to 3 years so if she was in Canada from January 18th 2011 until March 2nd 2013, she must enter Canada by March 2nd 2016 at the latest.

However, since her PR card would then have expired, she should try to make it back before it expires. When renewing the PR card, immigration looks at that she has not been outside Canada for 1095 days or longer in the past 5 years or after becoming a PR if that's not 5 years yet.

I will try.

When she applies to renew her PR card, immigration will ask how many days she was outside Canada

1) if she is PR longer than 5 years, how many days was she outside Canada in the past 5 years

or

2) if she is PR less than 5 years, how many days was she outside Canada since becoming PR

if she was outside Canada for 1095 days or more during that period, she will be asked if she was staying outside Canada with a Canadian spouse or working for a Canadian employer because this could excuse her absence. Otherwise, she might have a problem renewing.

However, if she wants to stay out of trouble, she should just make sure she is not outside for 1095 days or more and if she comes back before her PR card expires, she wont be because March 2013 to January 2016 is less than 3 years and 3 years = 1095 days.
