Hi, Can any one help with their experience if they had to buy return ticket or were able to board with one way ticket only, specially via PIA from Pakistan.

Thanks

There is a very good chance the airline will deny you boarding without a return ticket, based on personal experience on several occasions.

Some airlines won't let you board with just a one way, even if you did board, they might give you a hard time as to why you have no return ticket.

raises an interesting question given the OP quoted a super visa which understood can support an up to 2 year visit if granted at POE. Return airline tickets cannot generally be purchased with a return date more than approx 330- 360 days out from date of purchase. So the OP needs a response/experience from someone who has also had a super visa for an extended stay where a return ticket not feasable, maybe the traveller just needs to show any super visa paperwork to the airline if challenged.

The Thing which makes it more complicated is that type of Visa states "Visitor", and not every airline and immigration officer knows what a Super visa is, so they just treat it as a visitor visa.

So now in a delima whether to book a return ticket and waste money or to just book a 1 way ticket and take chance at airport.

there are scores of super visa travelers. hope someone will input his experience

regards

Isn't nowadays most plane tickets are e-tickets? For example, go to air canada.com, book the return flight, choose pay later and cancel it within 24 hours. No money are wasted.

Its just a reservation / booking and not an e-ticket until you pay for it.

I am not concerned about how to book the ticket, the concern is if my parent will be allowed by the airline and immigration officers to board the plane with 1 way ticket.

as I said earlier, not every one knows what a super visa is and how long the applicant can stay in the visiting country. so they will just go by what is mentioned on the Visa sticker which is "Visitor" and they will need to see a return ticket because almost all visitors visa grants a stay of maximum 6 months and majority of the airline tickets are valid for 6 months.

I've done this a couple of times at the airport at departure after my wife being refused boarding for not having a return ticket. We booked online, walked back up to the counter, the airline had the info available to them and allowed her to board. When we landed in Vancouver, we cancelled the ticket when we got off the plane. Full refund from Air Canada.
