Hello!

So I've applied for common-law sponsorship with my partner (inland application)

-Application for PR and Open Work Permit was received to the Mississauga office on 15th October 2019
-My IEC visa expired on the 19th October 2019
-My entire application was returned 2 weeks later due to not having a hand written signature on Schedule A (seems to be a common issue!)

So I am now out of status.

I have just sent off my PR application again, this time including the forms & documents to RESTORE my status as a worker.
I've included an explanation as to why i'm restoring as a worker and I have sent it off within the 90 day window.

But after reading online it seems that a lot of people suggest restoring my status as a visitor first before trying to apply for an open work permit (since you need to have a valid status before applying for an OWP?)
But I also read an example where someone was told to do what I done to reduce time?!

So i'm just wondering if anyone has done (or heard of anyone who has done) what I've done and just sent straight off to restore their status as a worker, and if so what was the outcome?

Also if they decide not to restore my status as a worker, will the still continue to process my PR application?

any help or info is much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick reply

So what do you think will happen with my processing?

Will they still start to process my PR application?
Or will they send the full thing back?

And if I need to restore my visitor status can I just do this by leaving the country and returning, or do I need to specifically send off the application form?

Both have happened. Some of been restored directly to a work permit in the normal timeline and some have been told they won't get the work permit until AIP. It depends on the officer.

The PR app will continue to be processed regardless of the OWP app.

Leaving the country while out of status is not a good idea.
