Restoration of Status while PR application is in progress

Please help me understand my restoration scenario as mentioned below:

My PR application is in progress through PNP Express Entry. I filed the PR application while I was waiting for the SOWP extension, i.e. under implied status. However, the SOWP extension was recently refused, and I had to file for Restoration of Status. I stopped working immediately, and my employer continues to support our application.

With the employer's continued support, I filed the Restoration of Status as a Worker application using the Work Permit Support letter received from the Province. This was done immediately within a week of the refusal of the SOWP extension application. I am concerned and have the following questions:

  1. Will this impact the ongoing PR application?
  2. Is it possible to file a concurrent Restoration of Status as a "Visitor" application as well since Restoration of Status as a Worker falls within the Work Permit within Canada processing times, which is going to take 4-5 months minimum?
  3. What happens if they refuse the Restoration of Status as a Worker application for whatever reasons and 90-day period has passed? Will it still impact the PR application?

Can you help me to answer few of my questions.?

I am the primary applicant for the PR and my husband is the dependent. My husband applied for SOWP extension in October 2023. We were waiting and finally on april 2024 he got the letter of refusal for sowp( because the lawyer didn’t submit adequate documents).

And on December 2023 we submitted for PR via express entry Canadian experience class. I am the primary applicant and my husband is the dependent.my husband got Sowp refusal on April 2024 and currently pr application is still in progress. We are in the process of restoring the work permit.
my question is
1) is the Sowp refusal gonna affect PR application.?
2) Do we need to inform ircc about the refusal and his last day of job ( as he stopped working because of the refusal).?

Yes, I am PR now. No need to mention to IRCC about the refusal after the application has been submitted. However, do inform the PNP guys. IRCC would know it by default from their centralized system. Don't worry, as it will eventually come, All the best!

you mean the pr or the extension? Was in the same situation but I recently got my status restored, now waiting for pr approval. Eligibility not started and security check

In between we changed the immigration lawyer .. so the new lawyer is working on sowp restoration.may be by next week he will submit.

And for PR , as I said the status says they are currently reviewing the documents and they are doing criminal checks.

One question is that .. how long you waited for result of restoration.?

waited 5 months before approval but what I understand is, the restoration has to be approved first for the pr to proceed! But every case is unique though

Hi, when did you apply for your restoration? and when was it approved?

I applied for mine on Feb 9th and no updates yet, I'm losing my mind waiting for this and IRCC offer no updates , they say just wait more.

The restoration takes 5months on average. The restoration will have to be approved first. As they can’t grant a PR approval to an out of status applicant.

I know because I was once in a similar situation, I’m now PR though. Goodluck
