Hi guys
before I came to Canada I had a residency in UAE ( not permanent though, there is nothing like that there ) but I had work and because of that I had residency,... I had to review it yearly every time i renew my job contract

I came to Canada and i left there and never came back. So my job was gone and so was my residency

I went back there last year for a family visit. I had to apply for visitor visa of course for two months.

My question is :

Do I need to get a document from there stating that my residency has been dropped? and no longer there?

Btw one of the question in my PR application was about if I had any permanent residency in any other country and I checked NO

I am posting here just because someone told me i should get such a statement from UAE stating that when I go to my test interview , and I got confused.

Sounds like you were there on a work visa. That is not permanent residency.

If you visa has an expiry date on it, I don't see why you would need to get some additional document

No, this is not necessary.
